Employment Mediation

If you are in deadlock with your negotiations, we can offer mediation as a better way of resolving conflict. Mediation allows both parties the opportunity to move forward and come to a mutual resolution.

Dealing with conflict at work can be time consuming, costly and damaging. Mediation enables both parties to find their own resolution in a positive and non-confrontational way, without the costs of going to a tribunal or even court.

The advantages of mediation are as follows:

  • Mediation is informal and confidential
  • It avoids lengthy and costly court/tribunal claims
  • It has a high success rate
  • It enables the parties to reach their own solution
  • It maintains mutual trust and confidence between the parties
  • It saves management and human resources’ time
  • Disputes can be resolved at the workplace

Typically mediation can help with the following:

  • Performance issues
  • Grievance issues
  • Communication problems
  • Unresolved issues between an individual or management group
  • Lack of agreement between manager and employee or manager to manager
  • Resolving personal differences between employees

The role of the mediator is to act as a facilitator to open up lines of communication to enable the parties to reach settlement. The mediator is impartial and has no authority to impose an agreement.

The costs of mediation are subject to negotiation but ordinarily are in the region of £290 plus VAT, per party for a 4-hour mediation.

Depending upon the nature of the dispute, some disputes can be resolved within a single 4-hour mediation.
