17/09/09 Penultimate walk before the Challenge
Saturday 29th August witnessed our penultimate walk before the Challenge! Winding down a little from the Brecon Beacons, we took a 12.5 mile walk out of Kimmeridge, taking in Swyre Head, Kingston and Chapman's Pool. From Chapman's Pool we walked up to Renscombe Farm and then took the track to the quarry near St Aldhelm's Head, where we descended to the foot of Emmetts Hill, then climbed back up the all-to-familiar staircase over the top and down again to Chapman's Pool. Ascending Hans-tout cliff after Chapman's Pool was something we are all getting quite used to, and after a stop at the summit for some well earned lunch we took the coast path back to Kimmeridge. The weather was fine throughout but it meant a bit of sunburn for several of us! Must remember the sun cream next time. Enjoy the pictures!
The challenge takes place this weekend and we are all very excited, if a little nervous. We have raised over £6,500 so far, for which we are very grateful. If you have not done so already please sponsor us by going to www.justgiving.com/dangibaumountainchallenge09
All money raised will be going to Lewis Manning Hospice in Poole.
