13/02/09 Exempt from business rates
1. Regulations have been passed to implement the Government's announcement in the 2008 Pre-Budget Report that it is temporarily increasing the threshold at which an empty property becomes liable for business rates. From April 2009 until March 2010, empty properties with a rateable value of less than £15,000 will be exempt from business rates.
2. The Treasury yesterday announced that the Chancellor will be presenting his 2009 budget on 22nd April at 12:30pm.
